Happy Spring - Miss Kate Cuttables DT Day post

Hi, crafters!
I'm so happy to be able to fill in for Theresa (The Scrapbooking Queen) today with a DT post over at Miss Kate Cuttables!   I have a cute square card to show you!
But first, did you see today's FREEBIE?

Here are the Miss Kate Cuttables files I used.

(I love MKC filles!)

Chick Holding Egg

Spring is in the Air

Here's my card!

I'm so tickled with how it turned out!

  • 6" x 6" card
  • Everything is inked around the edges with various colors.
  • I cut out 3 of the grasses in 2 different shades of green and stagger stacked them.
  • Chickie is adhered with foam squares from The Royal Castle Shoppe.
  • Lots of BoBunny DoubleDot papers used too also from The Royal Castle Shoppe.
  • Sentiment from "Hello Chickie" My Creative Time
  • Twine from stash
  • White gel pen used on egg that chickie is holding (Royal Castle Shoppe)
  • Candi used in Chickie's bow (Royal Castle Shoppe)
I don't make a lot of square cards, but I think this one turned out adorable.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Kitty Says: You Can Never Have Too Much Happy

Hey!  How's your day going? I'm having a GREAT day so far. Hope you are too.

I saw this slider card in the SVG Cutting Files store and knew I had to have it. I mean who doesn't love kitty cats and cupcakes?
Put them together = purr-fection.

Little bit of white gel pen doodling, a couple of rhinestones, and a twine bow to finish it off.

Such a happy kitty.

I added one of my favorite stamps to the inside for the sentiment. It's from Stampin' Up "Yippe Skippe!"
Remember, you can shop Stampin' Up with me at stampinup.com and just choose me, Janis Lewis, as your demo when placing your order. Thanks!

Tomorrow and the weekend through Monday is going to be very, very busy. I've got some appointments out of town tomorrow, and then if the weather cooperates we are going to get more done on our back deck over the weekend. Tom's off Monday too, so hopefully the weather will be good, and we can get a lot done. Right now they are calling for rain.  I keep using the term "we get a lot done," but you know Tom is the only one working on it, I'm just sitting out there in the sunshine watching the puppies play and being moral support.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Everyone Needs a Friend Who is All Ears

Happy Tuesday! You made it through Monday, and just think: tomorrow you'll be over the hump to the weekend.

There are some blogs that I visit often because the crafters, who I shall rename as, ARTISTS, are amazing! One of those blogs that I just LOVE is...

The Cricut Bug

Gigi thinks outside the box, and always has something adorable posted to her blog. What I really like about her projects is that I can sort of try to mimic them in my crafting. And she always remembers to link to the products she uses, so if anyone wishes to purchase them, they can just click right on over!

When I saw her Carrot Slider card, I knew I had to try to make one just like it.

Here's my card. Remember, this is NOT my original idea. This card is what I tried to make after seeing Gigi's. Be sure to pop over and give her some comment love.

Slider card closed
Carrot Slider Card & Girl Bunny Rabbit both
from SVG Cutting Files

Here comes the slider part popping out!

  • A lot of white gel pen added to edges
  • Everything inked around the edges with various colors
  • Peachy Keen Face: PK-490 Everyday Character Faces
  • Chalk added to cheeks
  • Bunny adhered to carrot with foam squares from the Royal Castle Shoppe

Isn't this adorable?!

I cut everything out exactly how I pulled the SVG files to my Silhouette software. I did not re-size anything.
Finished size:
6 1/2" wide x 9 1/4" tall

Thank you so much, everyone, for stopping by today!

To My Best Peep & our weekend project pics

Hey! I didn't post anything over the weekend. That felt really weird. But I'm back today with a new card I made and some progress photos of our home improvement project we started over the weekend.  First I'll show you my card....

Sketch from Sketch Saturday: (I turned it over)

  • My Craft Time "To My Favorite Peep"
  • Corner rounder punch
  • Martha Stewart Butterfly punch
  • Stampin' Up Dimensionals for wings and rhinestone on butterfly
  • Chick, egg, and butterfly all inked around the edges

I love how it came together! Check out all Miss Kate Cuttables files. She has daily freebies, collections, bundles, and so many cut files are just 50 cents! WOW!

IN OTHER NEWS:

We had a BIG weekend that started early on Friday with Tom being off. I love it when he's off!

We've been wanting to build a deck in the backyard ever since we tore down the old kitchen and re-arranged our floor plan.  The pictures I'm about to show you are still a work in progress, but hopefully if the weather is good this weekend, we can get the roof on and lights up.

BEFORE

Getting the foundation and posts set up

Time to go get some wood!

Tom and his brother, Bill, working hard.
Mary Ann and Ginger are in the photo too. Can you find them?

Looking good!

Mary Ann wondering what in the world Tom is doing.

Our two grandsons: Wyatt & Kevin

Wyatt learning how to use a hammer.

WOW! Tom had to stop because of rain before finishing getting the roof up, but hopefully next weekend the weather will cooperate.

Thanks for stopping by today!
